Chicago Day Trip

August 12 we went to Chicago for the day as a family.  Mitch had signed the kids up for the White Sox Kids' Club, as it was free and you receive 4 free tickets to a White Sox game per child.  So, we had 8 tickets and wanted to see the Tigers vs. the White Sox.  We decided to go as a whole family and see how Ainsley did for the whole day away! :)  We left home around 10am, stopped at Wendy's for lunch, continued on to Chicago, and stopped first at Navy Pier.  The kids did some small rides, we took a 30 minute Seadog speedboat ride on Lake Michigan, got ice cream, Mitch and the kids rode on the ferris wheel, and got rained on a little.  Then we decided to head to the Water Tower Place to do some shopping until game time.  We breezed through American Girl (mom not wanting Makenna to get too many ideas as we might be back for a girls trip someday when she's older :)), and then went to the Lego Store.  The kids played with the legos for a little while, took pictures by the lego figures, and both kids picked out a small lego box to take home and make.  (One girl beach scene box and one city sea-doo/water box...no surprise there! :))  We had some more food to eat while at the Water Tower Place and then headed in the rain to our car.  Thankfully the sun was coming out and we could see it was going to be a nice night for a ball game!  The Stahl family also had free tickets and were at the game too!  For a Monday night game, we really could sit wherever we wanted in the outfield, so we chose left field and stayed there for the night.  Ainsley chose not to nap all day, besides a 10 min. short nap while at Navy Pier walking around, so we tried more stroller walks around the stadium during the game.  She didn't give in one bit!  We left the game in the 7th inning...Tigers down 4-2.  They ended up losing 6-2.  We headed right home from the game after changing the kids into their pajamas.  Kaden & Makenna were out within a few minutes into the ride home...and Ainsley stayed awake until 10:46pm and then finally gave in to sleep! :)  Stinker.  She did great for her first car trip, though, and we had a great time as a family!
