Kaden's 1st Tiger Game

What a day for a first Tigers' game for Kade...poor buddy! The day before he had been complaining about a stomach ache, but never got sick...AND we were watching the weather just praying that the rain would hold off for the game! Well...8am we woke Kaden up to get ready and leave, and he said his tummy felt better and had breakfast. He was pretty excited for the game, but acting tired and not completely himself. We met my dad and Mitch's dad near 68th Street as we had invited them along as a Father's Day gift, and upon arriving there, Kaden complained about a stomach ache...so I quickly found a "puking" bag and we loaded up and took off...hoping the pouring rain would stop and Kaden would feel fine.

At about 9:30am, Kaden tried a bite of a donut in the car, and all of a sudden started crying out in pain that his stomach didn't feel good...luckily we had the bag nearby! Needless to say, he got some on my hand, his clothes, and his car seat...and this momma wasn't prepared with anything but the bag...no wipes, no paper towel, nothing to clean up the mess. We finally found a place to stop to get rid of the bag, change Kaden's clothes, and get more "puking" bags and wipes.

Thankfully, I had packed another set of clothes for Kaden, thinking with the rain that he might get wet...so I was glad I was at least prepared in that area! About a half hour after he got sick, Kaden started asking for food. This is pretty typical of him after getting sick, so I told him he could have a few bites of an apple. (BRAT diet, right?) He kept asking for more and more bites, and the color was coming back to his cheeks. So, we kept heading towards Detroit hoping that the rain would stop and Kaden wouldn't throw up again.

Around 11:30am we stopped for lunch at McDonalds. Kaden was hungry again and wanted his chicken nuggets and some fries. I wasn't too thrilled about him eating those things, but he scarfed the food down faster than I've ever seen him do before. We got to Comerica to park by 12:45pm and hustled into the stadium, passing "Eat 'em up, Tigers" man and stopping for pictures at the entrance. We had great seats in the upper deck, and Kaden was pretty into the game. There was no rain in Detroit, the sun was trying to shine through the clouds, and we were hoping to see most of the game!

We made it through the first inning, and Kaden started asking for more food because he was hungry. The game was 1-0 at this point, and Kaden was happy that he got to see his favorite Tiger, Cabby, bat...although he was slightly disappointed that he didn't hit a home run his first at bat. :) Kaden got some popcorn with Daddy and chowed down on that for the 2nd inning. We started seeing the grounds crew form a line behind the large tarp, which wasn't a good sign, but there were no dark clouds in view. After the 2nd inning, the score was 2-0 and we were starting to feel some rain drops. We got out our rain gear and umbrellas, but soon were told to leave our seats as thunder & lightning started along with the rain. Soon it was pouring and the tarp was fully covering the infield.

We walked around the stadium for a little bit, and then decided to head home. We were glad that Kade was feeling better and that he could see 2.5 innings of Tiger baseball...but bummed that we didn't get to stay for a full game. Once the rain started and we couldn't stay in our seats, Kaden was ready to go home. We got soaked walking back to the car, had a crazy, stormy drive home for most of the way, but Kade was able to take a nap on the car ride home. The game ended up getting postponed until June 13...a Monday night game, of course. We'll see how soon we get back to the stadium with Kaden!? He still loves the Tiges, and said he had fun, but Mitch and I are hoping that this rough 1st experience didn't forever change his mind about going to watch the Tiges again! :) Quite a day...thanks to the Papas for hanging in there with us and making it a fun day for Kaden too, and to Titi for watching Makenna for the day!

All ready to head to Detroit!
