Kaden started his first year of soccer last night! As typical with outdoor sports, you never know what kind of weather you're going to get. We had sunshine, wind, rain, cold, cloudy, and even a double rainbow too! Mitch is coaching Kaden's team of 5 boys, and they did great on their first night. Kaden is quite competitive (not sure where he gets that from...;)) and talked all day before his first practice about wanting to score a goal. He loves playing soccer outside with Mitch, me, neighbors, or by himself, so he was very excited to be on a soccer team this year. They do drills, practice, and play fun games the first 40 minutes, and then they play a 20 minute game. It's all about having fun, there are no goalies, and the coaches are told to just let the kids play. At the end of the game last night it was 2-2...ending in a tie. This was a good lesson for Kaden to learn, as he so badly wants to win every game he plays (or anything he does, for that matter :)), that ties happen too...and hoping loses this season happen as well. However, on the way home, Kaden stated very matter-of-factly to his father, who is also his coach, "Dad, our team didn't score 2 goals for the game, I scored 2 goals." Hmm...we have some work to do, huh!?!?!?!?
