This was supposed to be our schedule for the long Labor Day weekend...but when we discovered Kaden had pink eye Friday afternoon, a lot changed our fun plans. We got him on drops right away and then headed to Kalamazoo for our grill out with friends Friday night. I was planning on spending Saturday with my parents & the kids, so my mom offered to take Kade Friday night so we could hang out with friends and not worry about him getting other kids sick, as pink eye is very contagious. That was great, as we enjoyed spending time with friends for the night.
Saturday Mitch headed to the Big House to see the Wolverines win their opener vs. UConn...he was pumped to say the least! The kids enjoyed naps, swinging, playing, and eating at my parents' house all afternoon, and my mom and I even got a few sewing things in! :) After waiting out Kaden's eye to get a little better, we headed to the cottage after dinner with my parents. At the cottage we took a long overdue picture of all the girl cousins together, as Kyla had her first visit to the cottage Saturday. Kaden was missing his daddy all day, so we waited up until 9:30pm for him to get home from Ann Arbor. Unfortunately, Kaden developed a fever Saturday night and he & Mitch ended up driving home at midnight for Kaden to get a better night of sleep. He slept terrible at my parents' house Friday night, and it was the same story Saturday night.
Sunday morning he woke up better with no fever, so they headed back out to the cottage for the day with everyone. I enjoyed one last church service at Sandy Pines Chapel with the family, and Kade was happy to play with his boy cousins for one more day at the cottage. Then we all went home as a family Sunday night to get a good night of sleep to prepare for cleaning up around the cottage. But, once again, Kaden spiked a fever and I ended up staying at home with both kids today while Mitch helped clean up at the cottage. One positive is that it wasn't the greatest weather this morning, so we didn't miss out on any last tube, boat, or seadoo rides! Hoping this coming short week goes quickly and Kaden's sickness improves drastically. And, as another season at the cottage closes, we look forward to Summer 2011!! :)

Girl cousin picture at the cottage...now that Kyla Jae has arrived! 2 blondes and 2 brunettes...but in another year I'm sure we'll see 3 blonde girls and 1 brunette playing at the cottage together! Who knows...maybe Makenna will become more of a blondie like her brother within the next year!?
