Happy 1st Birthday, Makenna Lynn!

Dear Makenna,

One year ago today, Daddy and I saw your precious face for the first time. It is amazing how fast this past year has gone. Your little life has blessed us in so many ways we cannot even begin to explain...

On the day you were born, we kissed your adorable face and looked at you in amazement. We couldn’t believe we had a GIRL! Mommy was so excited for all the bows, dresses, and fun things that come with having a little girl. Daddy was so happy to have his “Daddy’s little girl” for the first time! This year we experienced your first smiles, your first laughs, rolling over and over and over, sitting, army crawling, talking, crawling on your knees, and walking. You constantly make us laugh with your babbling, funny faces, cute giggles, big smiles, easy going personality, silly waves, strong will, and also watching you interact with your older brother, Kaden (who, by the way, loves you so much too).

Every night when we lay you down for bed, we thank God for you and the wonderful joy you bring to our lives. We pray for your health, your safety, your happiness, and that one day you will accept Jesus into your heart. Mommy sings “Jesus Loves Me” to you before she puts you into your crib, and we always hope that you remember that! And then, every morning when you wake up and flash us your big smile, we are reminded of how blessed we are to be your parents.

We are sad to see your first year of life pass by so quickly, but we have many memories to hold dear…your first winter holidays as a baby, how Kaden loved you from the moment he met you, your first summer at the cottage, your first family vacation to New Buffalo, your first time in water (you are a water baby), your first word (da-da), your first brave steps, and so many more memories! We look forward to the year ahead and the new memories we will make as a family.
